The Role:

The Chemical Engineer develops access routes to a target product to make it industrialize, by using the synthesis scheme developed in research or by modifying it in whole or in part. You will optimize each stage of the process, starting from what has been done by R&D or by imagining other access routes while respecting precise quality criteria. You will ensure industrial feasibility from the point of view of ease of access, reproducibility, hygiene and safety, the cost of access to raw materials, yields, control of effluent, all in compliance with environmental regulations and constraints. The chemical engineer has a skills profile close to the research engineer, but unlike the latter who is required to prepare numerous molecules or numerous products, the chemical engineer focuses on the development & implementation of a process stabilized, at the right level of KPI (Product cost, quality, efficiency).

Job Responsibilities:

• Establishing process IFD / PFD (Industrial / Process Flow Diagram), material and heat balances (enthalpy balance), defining the nature of the materials to be used, identifying the main equipment (reactor, heat exchangers, etc.) and to define the instrumentation.
• high scientific level must allow him to imagine and implement alternative solutions to achieve the defined objectives (Lead time, quality, cost).
• works in collaboration upstream with the R&D teams and downstream with the production teams.
• He has in-depth knowledge of chemistry and must maintain constant scientific monitoring.
• Demonstrates creativity, rigor, team spirit, ability to summarize, deep dive to give a clear summary of the result and analysis, and a desire to learn.
• Conduct industrialization process which consists of defining, building, starting and operating the industrial tool.
• The chemical engineer is at the heart of this process. He begins by dialoguing with researchers to define what we call the bases of industrialization: choice of reaction conditions (catalyst, temperature, pressure, selection of raw materials and solvents).
• Then follows the selection of the process diagram with its unit operations considering the kinetic and thermodynamic data. He decides whether to go through a piloting phase before moving on to the implementation engineering phase.
• Its work then consists of. P&ID (Piping and Instrumentation Diagram) as well as the definition of the equipment (Specification Sheets), and everything that will be necessary for engineering to build the production tool meeting the requirements, criteria of reliability, economy, safety and environment.
• Contribute to the cost price calculation of the manufactured product, an essential element in determining the profitability of a project based on the volume and amount of sales.
• Identify and work with external vendors to apply existing and developing concepts to Markem-Imaje products.
• Will manage new processes roll-out from CAPEX approval to production handover.
• Willingness to work with potentially dangerous materials requiring personal protective equipment.
• Work in a manner that is safe to yourself and coworkers.
• Follow established company rules and regulations.
• Continue education by attending courses, lectures, and seminars.
  
   

Job Requirements:

• Engineering degree in chemical engineering with a minimum 10 years’ experience in industrial process engineering in the chemical industry
• Mandatory successful development of manufacturing automated processes
• Experience in project management with cross-functional/global team members or external supplier or partner.
• Méthodologies: Six Sigma, Lean, DFM/DFA, PFMEA, DOE, etc.
• Must be analytical and have experience working/solving complex problems.
• Must be self-motivated with the ability to work independently.
• Must be a contributing member of the team.
• Exercise judgement in selecting methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.
• Excellent oral and written communication
• Availability to travel internationally 20-25%
