About the Role
The Company is seeking a Chief Operating Officer (COO) to provide strategic leadership and operational oversight. The COO will be responsible for the effective management of the organization's programs, partnerships, and internal operations, ensuring alignment with the mission and goals. This role involves general administrative oversight, human resources management, compliance, development and external relations, and strategic planning. The ideal candidate will be a diplomatic leader with a passion for operational excellence, at least 5 years' experience in operations and administrative management, and a strong commitment to the values of the organization. Key qualifications include operational leadership, financial management, sector knowledge, partnership development, and excellent communication and project management skills. The successful COO will work closely with the Executive Director and the Board to implement the strategic plan, manage the budget, and oversee the care of the organization's digital and physical collections. They will also be involved in program development, particularly for scholarly and general audiences, and will be expected to build and strengthen relationships with staff and stakeholders. The role requires a candidate with a Bachelor's degree (advanced degree in a humanities-related field is an advantage), discreet judgment, and the ability to handle sensitive matters confidentially. Experience in fundraising and a strong understanding of digital technology for archival and research purposes are desirable. The COO will play a key role in fostering collaboration, ensuring effective communication, and driving organizational excellence while maintaining a focus on the mission and values of the company.
