Chief Operating Officer (COO) / Vice President of Operations

Are you a seasoned operations leader with a proven record of driving excellence in healthcare delivery? The Heart and Vascular Group, a leading physician-owned cardiology practice, is seeking a dynamic Chief Operating Officer / Vice President of Operations to oversee and optimize the operational performance across our multi-site practice in Virginia.

Strategic & Operational Leadership

  1. Direct day-to-day operations across all practice sites and affiliated hospital systems.
  2. Develop and execute operational strategies aligned with long-term growth and clinical objectives.
  3. Collaborate closely with physician leadership to enhance service delivery and patient outcomes.

Practice & Clinical Support Management

  1. Oversee all non-clinical departments, including scheduling, billing, front office, and administrative operations.
  2. Ensure compliance with federal and state regulatory standards (HIPAA, CMS, JCAHO, etc.).
  3. Manage physician schedules, credentialing, and clinical productivity metrics.

Financial Oversight & Business Performance

  1. Lead revenue cycle operations, including coding, billing, collections, and denial management.
  2. Partner with finance teams and consultants to support budgeting, forecasting, and profitability analysis.
  3. Identify cost-saving initiatives while maintaining operational integrity and care quality.
  4. Supervise EMR platforms (Epic preferred), health IT systems, and clinical workflows.
  5. Champion digital health initiatives, including telemedicine and remote patient monitoring.

Talent Development & Organizational Culture

  1. Lead hiring, onboarding, and professional development of operational and support staff.
  2. Promote a high-performance, service-oriented culture rooted in accountability, collaboration, and patient satisfaction.

Minimum qualifications include:

  • Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, business, or related field required; MBA, MHA, or equivalent advanced degree strongly preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years of leadership experience in healthcare operations, ideally in a specialty or cardiology practice setting.
  • Demonstrated expertise in practice management, financial oversight, and operational strategy.
  • Proficiency in EMR systems, healthcare compliance, and revenue cycle analytics.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, organizational, and leadership skills.
