Job Title: Civil Engineer / Premises Liability Consultant – Senior Level

Location: California / National

Terms: Salary – Full Time

Paragon Forensics is a leading full-service consulting firm specialized in providing forensic analysis and consultant opinion to the medico-legal and insurance industries. Our principal services include analyses of accident reconstruction, premises liability, biomechanics, and safety to assist our clients in their evaluation of actual or potential injury-related claims. We are a multidisciplinary team of Engineers and scientific PhDs who collaborate on cases in a relaxed yet fast-paced work environment.

Job Description:

This Senior level Civil Engineer/Premises Liability Consultant is expected to be a lead consultant on forensic cases pertaining to personal injury lawsuits or claims. This role will include responsibility for case management, including the review and analysis of file material, performance of inspections, and collaboration with support staff. The Civil Engineer/Premises Liability Consultant will predominantly evaluate conditions of property that allegedly cause or contribute to injurious events and/or property damage. The Civil Engineer may also address questions regarding construction and building related practices and safety. This position may also involve support on other cases which Paragon staff are working on. As the lead consultant on cases, this position requires providing expert testimony through depositions, arbitration and trials, as well as writing reports and declarations.

Compensation:

$100,000 to $300,000 annually, commensurate with experience, paid monthly

Responsibilities:

· Lead consultant on cases and management thereof

· Collaborate with Paragon personnel on review and analysis of cases

· Research and review of:

-Property records

-Codes, regulations, and standards

-Plans and permits

· Review of case-related materials such as depositions, statements, photographs, reports, etc.

· Performing site inspections which include taking photographs and measurements and using other technical instruments

Requirements:

· Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or higher

· Licensed Professional Engineer in the state of employment

· 5+ years’ experience in forensics

· Ability to handle a high case load and short deadlines

· Effective management of time and support staff

· Experience with property records research including plan review

· Experience with or understanding of concrete construction and other building materials

· Strong reading comprehension and written and verbal communication with command of the English language

· Competency using basic tools and equipment (i.e., camera, tape measure, level, etc.)

· Competency using a PC with proficiency in Microsoft Office

· Requires local and regional travel and reliable transportation

· Eligible to work in the United States

· Background and DMV check

Preferred Qualifications:

· 10+ years’ experience in forensics

· Prior experience working in building and safety (i.e., municipal jurisdictional building department, OSHA (State or Federal), construction consulting firm, etc.)

· Prior experience and/or knowledge of building codes and other regulations

· Familiarity with the construction and maintenance of various materials including concrete and asphalt

· Familiarity with building codes, regulations, and standards associated with construction practices and safety
