We are looking to hire a Drug Testing Analyzer Technician ! NON-EXEMPT

The Drug Testing Analyzer Technician is responsible for various duties related to the collection, processing, reporting and recording of urinalysis samples as well as oral swabs and sweat patches submitted on or off site. The Technician will monitor client submission of samples and ensure chain of custody is intact, ensure proper handling of samples, chemicals and reagents used in testing at all times. Perform weekly and monthly maintenance procedures of the analyzer. Responsibilities also include inventory and submitting order of reagents, calibrators and supplies necessary for testing on the analyzer equipment to supervisor and working with the contractor to address issues/concerns. This position will also be responsible for majority of the processing of contested urine drug screen results and following up with the requesting party on related updates. Technicians will also administer breathalyzer procedures as needed.

The Tech will communicate any clients case manager or program supervisor of any unusual occurrences including, but not limited to, positive BA, adulterated urine or disturbances of any type. Tech will work as a team and help provide customer service to clients and support teammates

MAJOR DUTIES: The Drug Testing Analyzer Technician is responsible for various duties related to collection, processing, reporting, and recording of urinalysis samples submitted on or off-site including responsibility for running and maintaining the analyzer on scheduled days. The work involves the collection of urine samples per the agencies policies and procedures and recording of data during the collection process. This position does not provide clinical services to agency patients. In fulfilling these duties, the incumbent performs the following duties independently:

  1. Produce accurate labels for clients preparing to submit a urine sample.
  2. Instruct clients in the agency procedures for submission of urine samples and insure that these procedures are followed.
  3. Monitor and observe client submission of the urine sample.
  4. Insure maintenance of chain-of-custody of the urine sample including documentation by the client of all identifying information on the sample.
  5. Administer and record breathalyzer procedures & results when appropriate.
  6. Inform client of additional responsibilities, i.e. case management contacts, positive BA procedures, and/or prescription verification requirements.
  7. Inform client's case manager or the program supervisor of any unusual occurrences including but not limited to, positive BA, adulterated urine, and/or disturbances of any type.
  8. Prepare samples for delivery to the laboratory's courier.
  9. Ensure all required samples for urine collection are maintained at sufficient levels.
  10. Ensure universal precautions for handling of urine samples are adhered to.
  11. Analyzer responsibilities include:
  1. Proper handling of chemicals and reagents.
  2. Perform monthly, quarterly, and yearly maintenance procedures.
  3. Inventory and order reagents, calibrators, and supplies.
  4. Ensure compliance with “chain of custody” samples.

12. Other responsibilities as directed.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED BY THE POSITION

  1. High School diploma or equivalent.
  2. Familiarity with issues specific to addiction and recovery.
  3. Good verbal and written communication skills.
  4. Excellent attendance and a self-starter.
  5. Ability to communicate clearly verbally and written.
  6. High attention to detail.

COMPLEXITY

The incumbent provides agency-based services to patients. Strong communication skills, sound judgment, and creativity are required to help implement and deliver support services that meet the complex needs of the patients.

PERSONAL CONTACTS

Contacts are primarily with the members of the treatment team, patients, and significant others and family members of the patients. All personal contacts are carried out in accordance with federal and state laws dealing with the confidentiality of patient records.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Most of the work can be performed while sitting, standing, and walking.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT

Working hours are spent indoors in offices or other meeting rooms. Supervision of outdoor activities, visits to community agencies, and participation in staff retreats and staff development activities will be required.

SALARY RANGE: $20.25 - 22.25 / hour (DOE)
