Job Description

Smart4Chemicals are looking to recruit an Environmental Engineer for a leading chemical and polymer manufacturing company based in Pasadena, Texas.

As an Environmental Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring regulatory compliance across air, water, solid waste, and wetlands regulations. You will provide hands-on support, regulatory expertise, and lead initiatives to drive environmental compliance and continuous improvement, in addition to much more.

To be considered for this role as an Environmental Engineer, you must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical or Environmental Engineering along with previous industrial experience in a related field with knowledge of state and federal environmental regulations. This includes air, water and waste permitting, Title V, OSHA and TCEQ.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide expertise and guidance to maintain compliance with air, stormwater, potable water, solid waste, and wetlands regulations.
  • Monitor site performance against permits and regulatory requirements, identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Prepare and submit required regulatory reports to federal, state, and local agencies.
  • Develop and maintain contingency plans and conduct site inspections to ensure compliance.
  • Collaborate with contract personnel for environmental compliance efforts, including waste handling and LDAR monitoring.
  • Review and assess new regulations, propose procedural changes, and provide training to plant personnel.
  • Lead environmental inspections and coordinate responses to regulatory agency requests.

Key Requirements:

  • Degree qualified in Chemical Engineering, Environmental Sciences or closely related subject.
  • Significant industrial experience as an Environmental Specialist within plastic or chemical manufacturing
  • Knowledge of state and federal environmental regulations including air, water and waste permitting, Title V, OSHA and TCEQ.
  • Knowledge of industrial hygiene sampling is highly desirable.
  • Stay current with environmental control technologies and participate in industry workgroups to share best practices.
