About the Role
The Company is seeking an Executive Director for its Library and Special Collections. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing strong leadership to the library, special collections, and archives team, with a focus on meeting the evolving needs of students, faculty, staff, and the community in the digital landscape. This role involves strategic planning, program administration, and oversight of business activities. The Executive Director will also serve as a liaison and representative on academic affairs and university committees, and is expected to foster a culture of shared governance within the library. Collaboration with university stakeholders to develop new programs, curriculum, and resources is essential, as is the ability to advocate for the library in institutional processes. Applicants for the Executive Director position must have a Bachelor's degree in library science, with a Master's degree preferred, and at least 10 years of related experience in a library environment, including managerial experience. The role requires a candidate with a diverse background in higher education libraries, knowledge of electronic resources, library technologies, and best practices in teaching, research, and service. The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with faculty and academic leaders, and experience in supporting a diverse, non-traditional student population. Strong communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills are essential, as is the ability to manage resources to meet the library's mission. The Executive Director will be expected to develop and implement strategic plans for the library, evaluate programs and services, and seek external funding to enhance library programs, collections, and facilities.
