Amentum is seeking a 2nd shift Facility Maintenance Plumber for our industrial operations & maintenance teams in Davenport, IA. Typical hours: Monday - Friday 3:00 p.m. – 11:30 p.m. may vary based on customer demand. Responsible for providing advanced level of expertise in responding to work orders, troubleshooting, and providing preventative maintenance on the industrial or commercial related to general facilities and utilities systems and equipment to include but not limited to plumbing and mechanical equipment, motors, pumps, piping, drains, and other equipment as directed. Responsibilities include assisting in performing and responding to work orders associated with building equipment; inspecting major equipment and/or operating systems and taking corrective actions as necessary; ensuring all appropriate mechanical operations, standards, controls, and specifications are maintained at a high level of quality for systems/equipment including pumps, fans, cranes, heat exchangers, valves, etc.; assembling, installing, and repairing pipes, fittings and fixtures of heating, water, and drainage systems according to specifications and plumbing codes; studying building plans and working drawings to determine work aids as required and sequence of installations; assembling and installing valves, pipefittings and pipes composed of metals and nonmetals; joining pipe by use of screws, bolts, fittings, solder, plastic solvent and caulks joints; filling pipe system with water or air and reading pressure gauges to determine leaks; installing and repairing plumbing fixtures such as sinks, commodes, bathtubs, water heaters, hot water tanks, garbage disposal units, dishwashers and water softeners; repairing and maintaining plumbing by replacing washers in leaky faucets, mending burst pipes, and opening clogged drains; welding holding fixtures to steel structural members; diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing industrial facility mechanical systems, facility equipment and systems, pneumatic and/or hydraulic systems; performing preventive maintenance inspections and actions such as lubrication, cleaning, filter changes; troubleshooting and repairing blowers and fans, heat exchange equipment, and basic electrical issues; performing basic pipefitting repairs; working within the context of a team and at times with minimal supervision; ensuring excellent customer service and safe work environment; complying with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP); and other duties as assigned by Manager or Supervisor. Minimum requirements include High School graduate or equivalent experience, 3+ years’ experience in mechanical maintenance and plumbing, hands-on experience in maintenance, repair and operation of mechanical building systems including plumbing, steam and hot water boilers, air handling units, pumps, compressors, air dryers, and exhaust systems, excellent verbal and written communication skills, customer service-minded attitude, experience with Microsoft Office software, attention to detail, ability to read and understand repair manuals and drawings, ability to analyze problems and recommend solutions, experience with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Work Instructions, proper safety practices, some travel, passing pre-employment substance abuse test, valid Driver’s License, ability to obtain security access badge, willingness to work overtime, various shifts, weekends, holidays and alternative work schedules. Physical requirements include ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders and stairs, bend/stoop, squat, kneel, move in 90-degree fashion, stretch/reach, walk extensively, use utility knife, differentiate wire color-coding, repetitive wrist movement, and professional interaction with clients under stress. Special requirements include wearing steel toe safety shoes, safety glasses, gloves, hard hats and other PPE, and coping with job-related stressors. Preferred requirements include Associates degree or technical certification in Industrial Technology or related field, experience performing pipefitting, and valid CCCDI license or ability to obtain within one year.
