Salary: $135,000 - $170,000
Stencil Group is a vertically-integrated construction, property management & development family of companies. We are creating multi-family housing communities across Minnesota, South Dakota, and Wyoming. We heavily emphasize market rate housing, because we believe that quality, family-focused construction projects are worth it.
Position Summary:
The In-House Counsel will serve as a key advisor to the executive team and business units, providing legal guidance on a wide range of issues including corporate governance, contracts, employment matters, regulatory compliance, risk management, and litigation.
Key Responsibilities:
Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of contracts and legal documents, but primarily those relating to commercial debt and business organizational documents.
Advise on corporate governance and legal compliance across all departments.
Manage legal risk and provide strategic guidance on business initiatives.
Work with outside counsel when necessary.
Support HR and operations with employment law matters and policies.
Stay current on relevant laws, regulations, and industry best practices.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement effective policies and practices.
Assist in mergers, acquisitions, and other corporate transactions as needed.
Qualifications:
Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
Active bar membership in South Dakota or Minnesota.
Minimum 5 years of legal experience, preferably with a combination of law firm and in-house experience.
Strong knowledge of corporate law, contract law, employment law, and compliance.
Excellent negotiation, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently while also functioning as part of a collaborative team.
Business acumen and a proactive approach to identifying legal risks and solutions.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in the Real Estate Development industry
Familiarity with real estate law.
