CSEngineering is looking to add an MQ-9 Pilot SME to our growing team! This position will be an invaluable member of a team supporting the Air Force Safety Center, Aviation Safety Divisions (HQ AFSEC/SEF) providing advisory and assistance services regarding to the AF Aviation Safety mission and initiative.

**CLIENT OVERVIEW**
The Air Force Safety Center (AFSEC) develops, implements, executes, and evaluates Air Force aviation, ground, weapons, space and system mishap prevention and nuclear surety programs and policy. The center oversees mishap investigations, evaluates corrective actions, ensures implementation and maintains the mishap database Air Force-wide. It also conducts research to promote safety awareness/mishap prevention and develops and directs safety and risk management education and media programs for all safety disciplines. The mission of SEF is to preserve warfighting capability through prevention of aviation mishaps, injuries and fatalities.
**JOB RESPONSIBILITIES**
Outlined below are the critical requirements for this position:
* Support Safety Investigation Boards (SIB) by coordinating technical assistance (telephone or onsite) for active SIBs.
* Provide feedback for SIB narratives, findings, and recommendations to ensure quality reports IAW AFI 91-204 and AFMAN 91-223. Provide input to the Memorandum of Final Evaluation (MOFE) process IAW AFI 91-204 and AFMAN 91-223.
* Using Air Force Safety Automated System (AFSAS) historical data, assist with research, data mining, and identifying possible mishap root causes for SIBs. Recommend acceptance or rejection for closure requests.
* Assist SIBs in identifying human factors influencing mishaps.
* Review AFSAS and other mishap databases for accuracy of safety event data and recommend corrections when needed.
* Perform a quality control assessment on RPA and other aviation safety reports to ensure compliance with AFI 91-204 and AFMAN 91-223 requirements and recommend acceptance or rejection.
* Perform quality control inspection to ensure proper DoD Human Factors Analysis and Classification System (HFACS) coding for all RPA Final and Final Supplemental Messages and ensure consistent HFACS coding between manned and RPA mishaps.
* Maintain access to relevant databases and other computer resources including: Reliability and Maintainability Information System (REMIS), Joint Technical Data Integration (JTDI) to include Enhanced Technical Management System (ETIMS), AFSAS, Joint Deficiency Reporting System (JDRS), Army Risk Management Information System (RMIS), Secret Internet Protocol Router Network (SIPRNet), and Small Unmanned Aircraft Systems Manager (SUSMAN).
* Collaborate on RPA and other aviation safety maintenance and operations with government and industry experts.
* Provide RPA and aviation safety support for Military Flight Operations Quality Assurance (MFOQA), Airman Safety Action Program (ASAP), Line Operations Safety Audit (LOSA), and other proactive safety programs.
* Assist with analysis and identification of RPA and other aviation mishap trends, develop safety data products and reports for AFSEC and senior USAF leaders.
* Respond to RPA and other aviation safety taskers, safety briefings, and presentations for AFSEC staff and higher headquarters.
* Recommend specific guidance for Air Force safety instructions.
* Support safe expansion and research efforts for RPA and sUAS operations for major commands, combatant commands, and other units.
* Review, evaluate, and provide recommendations for airworthiness evaluations using MIL-HDBK-516C criteria and AFI 62-601 as well as general aviation and military standards IAW ARP-4761, Mil-Std 882E, DO-178B, DO-278, DO-264, and AFI 91-202 and applicable airworthiness bulletins.
* Review, assess, and coordinate on Safety Assessment Report (SAR) packages or other similar products for RPA National Airspace (NAS) integration.
* Monitor emerging counter-UAS technologies, tactics, and procedures to ensure safe implementation and make recommendations when necessary.
* Attend and participate in RPA/aviation safety meeting/conferences such as: MQ-9 and RQ-4 System Safety Group meetings and Technical Analysis and Applications Center (TAAC) conference.
* Support the production of articles in the areas of RPA NAS integration, RPA operations, training or other safety issues, human factors, and RPA maintenance trends.
* Provide monthly and ad hoc summary reports to USAF and AFSEC.
* Conduct aviation safety trend analysis using Deficiency Report database, mishap reports and other data contained in the AFSAS database. Identify common problem areas and potential solutions or recommendations.
* Compare RPA mishap rates and causes with outside agencies.
* Conduct analysis of Hazardous Air Traffic and near midair collision Reports.
**REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS AND QUALIFICATIONS**
***Security Clearance: Secret***
* Minimum of six years piloting either the MQ-1 or MQ-9
* Current or previous qualification as an instructor in the MQ-1 or MQ-9
* Travel 10% for conferences
* Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance
* Must be a United States Citizen

* Experience with the USAF safety recommendation process
