Description of Position HIRING RATE: $28.96 Piano accompanists may play for choral ensembles, musical productions, and private vocal and instrumental music students.
- Accompanist duties include playing during regular class sessions, rehearsals, recitals, private lessons, and performances; some performances may be off campus
- Works under the close supervision of music directors and instructors
- Other related duties as assigned
This is a temporary part-time position working 0 -19 hours per week as scheduled. Minimum Expectations & Requirements - At least one year of experience in playing piano as an accompanist with individuals or groups
- Ability to play in a wide variety of musical styles, such as classical, jazz, pop and Broadway
- Basic knowledge of music theory including notation, musical symbols, scales, chords, terminology, harmony and rhythm
- Ability to listen closely and follow oral instructions
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships
Preferred Skills & Abilities - Experience playing piano in front of audiences
- Ability to play difficult music at an advanced level
- Ability to adjust playing style to match differing student/ensemble levels
- Work experience in a community college/higher education environment
