Job Description/Responsibilities:
As a Project Engineer within MR&C EIC, you will be responsible for a wide range of tasks involving the engineering and design of electrical, instrumentation, and control systems for natural gas facilities. Your key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Project Engineering and Design: Lead the design and development of electrical, instrumentation, and control systems for gas facilities, ensuring compliance with relevant standards and specifications.
- Product/Process Research: Conduct research to identify and implement improvements in systems and processes, contributing to the development of best practices and new technologies.
- Field Technical Support: Provide on-site technical support during installation, operation, and troubleshooting of systems and equipment at gas facilities.
- Support for Large Customer Meter Stands: Assist with the engineering, design, and support of large customer meter stands, ensuring efficient operation and compliance with industry standards.
- Development of Standards: Contribute to the development of engineering standards and best practices to ensure consistency and quality across all projects.
In addition, the Project Engineer will:
- Frequently collaborate with internal teams such as Operations, Supply Chain, Project Management, Project Controls, Meter Technology Center, Warehousing, and Gas Control.
- Coordinate and communicate effectively with external partners, service providers, and vendors to ensure project timelines and objectives are met.
- Lead or assist with engineering projects, including design, planning, inspections, system planning, reports, environmental impacts, permits, schedules, estimates, data collection, construction observation, and field investigations.
- Provide planning, design, construction support, and ongoing maintenance support for electrical power, instrumentation, and control systems at gas facilities.
- Ensure all engineering services are completed on time and within budget while integrating applicable standards and procedures.
- Use computer-assisted design and drafting software to prepare engineering documents, ensuring accuracy and clarity.
- Adhere to established company standards for file structure, standard drawings, and project documentation procedures.
- Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, to provide technical expertise and guidance to internal teams and departments.
- Attend internal and external meetings as required to ensure project alignment and stakeholder communication.
- Handle customer complaints efficiently and professionally, ensuring resolution in a timely manner.
- Serve as the onsite project representative, overseeing construction and monitoring progress to ensure projects align with design documents.
- Apply engineering principles and practices to make decisions and resolve complex technical problems, representing the organization in meetings and decision-making forums.
The Project Engineer will also:
- Utilize advanced engineering techniques and modify and extend established theories and practices to meet project needs.
- Apply engineering knowledge to evaluate, select, and apply the appropriate engineering theories and methods to solve problems.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders to ensure all aspects of the project are successfully completed.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (or related field) from an ABET-accredited program, or an Associate’s Degree in an applied science.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Knowledge and/or experience in utility operations and electrical system design/installation.
- Familiarity with the National Electrical Code (NEC)/NFPA 70 and Electrical System Design.
- Experience with various SCADA RTU platforms and understanding of utility business models.
- Ability to independently evaluate, select, and apply engineering theories and principles.
- Strong leadership, problem-solving, and teamwork skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work with diverse teams and stakeholders.
