How you will create an impact

1. Supervise a team of Senior and Associate Underwriters, including designing work, developing underwriting and marketing skills, and ensuring adherence to guidelines.
2. Perform highly technical and complex assignments within your expertise.
3. Provide technical guidance to management, less senior specialists, producers, and claims personnel.
4. Underwrite Workers’ Compensation, General Liability, and Auto Liability primary Casualty lines.
5. Evaluate new and renewal submissions, identify exposures, and determine coverage and loss potential.
6. Manage a book of business, set production goals, and participate in regional budgeting.
7. Collaborate with distribution and other underwriters to target desirable accounts and cross-sell opportunities.
8. Develop pricing, negotiation strategies, and deal structures with brokers and clients.
9. Review and modify underwriting guidelines as needed.
10. Build and maintain long-term relationships with brokers and clients for profitable growth.
11. Provide excellent customer service.
12. Draft manuscript endorsements for specific exposures, with legal approval.
13. Manage and guide a team of underwriters.
14. Promote a culture of collaboration, innovation, diversity, and inclusion; lead talent acquisition and performance evaluations.

What you’ll need to succeed

• Experience supervising underwriters, designing work, and developing skills.
• Expertise in highly technical underwriting assignments.
• Ability to provide technical direction to team members and management.
• Responsibility for underwriting Casualty lines: Workers’ Compensation, General Liability, Auto Liability.
• Skill in evaluating submissions, exposures, and coverage policies.
• Experience managing a book of business and participating in budgeting.
• Ability to collaborate with internal teams and external brokers.
• Developing and implementing pricing and negotiation strategies.
• Ability to review and suggest modifications to underwriting guidelines.
• Participation in special projects as needed.
