North Mississippi Health Services is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) Clinic for a nursing job in Pontotoc, Mississippi.
Job Description & Requirements\n Distribution and Transportation:
\n
\n* Accurately and efficiently transports lab-related supplies, equipment and specimens
\n* Transport specimens in compliance with regulatory guidelines
\n* Responsible for maintenance and appearance of assigned specimen processing vehicles
\n* Abides all laws and regulations while driving assigned vehicle
\n
\n Specimen Handling & Processing:
\n
\n* Properly identifies patients and collects specimens in compliance with regulatory guidelines
\n* Processes specimens and accurately applies appropriate barcode labels prior to delivery to specific lab departments for testing
\n* Performs venipunctures, finger sticks, heel sticks, assists physician with bone marrow collection, point of care glucose and iSTAT testing in compliance with regulatory guidelines on all applicable patient populations at facility and area nursing homes
\n
\n Communication:
\n
\n* Accurately and efficiently address/respond to inquiries concerning specimen processing
\n
\n Customer Service
\n
\n* Answer telephone in an polite and efficient manner
\n
\n Employee Relations:
\n
\n* Works as part of a team with all Pathology and NMHS employees
\n
\n Reporting/Recordkeeping:
\n
\n* Accurately reports point of care testing results in timely manner
\n* Accurately performs point of care quality control
\n* Accurately documents all necessary information on patient specimen tubes/containers and in Laboratory Information System (LIS)
\n* Assist with maintaining inventory related to specimen processing
\n
\n Education:
\n
\n* Participates in continuing education programs to maintain and expand skills
\n
\n Regulation :
\n
\n* Adheres to NMHS/NMMC Policies/Procedures/Guidelines
\n* Complies with applicable Local/State/Federal policies/procedures/guideline/regulations/laws/statues
\n
\nAdheres to OSHA, CLIA, CAP & CLSI standards
\n
\nJob Knowledge:
\n
\n* High school diploma; required
\n* Valid Mississippi Driver’s License and acceptable driving record/history; required
\n* Minimum of 1 year experience working as a phlebotomist; preferred
\n* Proficient computer skills (i.e. Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel); required
\n* Good organizational and communication (written and verbal) skills; required
\n* Knowledge of and appropriate handling of biohazardous specimens; required
\n* ASCP Certification: encouraged
\n* Strong interpersonal skills; required
