Job Description

Summary

The purpose of this position is to operate company supplied commercial motor vehicles (tractors/trailer/straight trucks) to transport and deliver palletized fertilizer, chemicals, seed, limited HAZMAT classified products and other materials to customer locations. This position will pay for CDL Training if applicant does not have CDL License.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform customer fertilizer applications on customer properties using a state of the art Chandler or other Spreader Truck.
• Maintain Application Logs and Inventory for every application and account.
• Perform Monthly Calibration pan testing and maintain records of said calibrations to ensure spreads are accurate and calibrated as an ongoing part of quality control.
• Provide printed “As Applied/GPS” Maps and Fertilizer application records and specifics for Simplot and customer’s records.
• Must carry out business relationships in a professional manner and represent Simplot and it’s brand professionally in their conduct and uniform.
• Communicate with customers on the job to be performed as it related to coordinating the spreads at their specific property.
• Perform work at warehouse during time periods of slow spreading on the calendar.

Typical Education

High school diploma or general education degree (GED)

Relevant Experience

• Three plus years related experience and/or training.
• Must possess a current CDL/DOT certified (Class A) valid driver’s license. Or willing to obtain.
• DMV Hazardous Endorsement is preferred.
• Forklift certification is greatly preferred.
• Must have working knowledge of applicable laws and regulations related to the required license and certifications.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, road signs, maps, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to do basic math.
• Must be able to understand and carry out written and/or oral instructions/directions.
• Must have demonstrated ability to manage up to 12 ton loads on tandem axle, 20 ft. bed with piggy-backed forklift or 17 ton loads on 32 ft. trailer with piggy-backed forklift.

*This position will include overnight travel on a seasonal basis. This could include being on the road M-F during springtime. During slower times of the year, this position will remain home most every evening. 

*This position is eligible for relocation.
