Job Title: Payroll Specialist

Pay Range: $28 - $44.90 per hour

Company Overview:
Our client, a well-established company located in Pioneer Square , Seattle, is looking for an experienced Payroll Specialist to join their team. This is a crucial role that ensures the accurate and timely processing of biweekly payroll for a diverse workforce. The ideal candidate will bring strong payroll processing experience, attention to detail, and an understanding of payroll compliance and regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Process biweekly payroll for all employees, ensuring accuracy in pay, deductions, and tax calculations.
• Maintain and update payroll records, including new hires, terminations, and changes in pay or benefits.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations , including tax withholdings, garnishments, and benefits.
• Resolve payroll discrepancies and respond to employee payroll inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
• Prepare and submit payroll taxes and reports to federal, state, and local agencies.
• Administer benefits-related deductions, including health insurance, retirement contributions, and other employee benefits.
• Assist with year-end payroll processing , including the preparation and distribution of W-2 forms.
• Coordinate with HR and Finance teams to ensure smooth handling of payroll-related matters, such as employee status changes, benefits enrollment, and deductions.
• Maintain confidentiality and security of payroll data.

Qualifications:

• 2+ years of payroll processing experience, with familiarity in biweekly payroll cycles.
• Strong understanding of payroll regulations , tax filings, and compliance.
• Experience with payroll systems (e.g., ADP, Paychex, or similar).
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel , including pivot tables, VLOOKUP, and advanced formulas.
• Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to interact with employees at all levels.
• Ability to maintain discretion and confidentiality with sensitive payroll information.
• Payroll certification (e.g., CPP) is a plus but not required.
