Job Summary and Qualifications

The Wound Care RN is responsible for serving as a clinical resource, educator, and consultant to the staff in developing and implementing the plan of care for patients with specific disorders of the Gastrointestional and Genitourinary, and Integumentary Systems which could include ostomies, fistulae, tubes, dermal wounds, other altered skin & tissue integrity situations and incontinence depending on employee’s specific certification.

Duties & Responsibilities: 

· Maintain WOC guidelines consistent with WOCN recommendations

· Assist staff to maintain competency in the areas of Wound, Ostomy and Continence

· Organize discharge plan for WOC population

· Educate and precept students re WOC Services

· Demonstrate leadership within the role of the WOCN

· Participate in at least 30 hours of WOC related Continuing Education annually.

· Participate in committees/teams for regulatory compliance as assigned

Preferred Qualifications: 

• Graduated from an accredited WOCN Education Program
• Wound Care Nurse (WCN), or Wound and Ostomy Nurse (WON), or Wound, Ostomy & Continence Nurse (WOCN) Certification
