Department: 302 – Facilities Maintenance
Reports to: Facilities Manager
Status: Non Exempt/Full-time (40 hours per week)
Hours to work: 2:00 am - 12:30 pm
Days to work: Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday
Summary:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities*
- General responsibilities: Maintain all pools, spas and fountains, with the exception of fountains on the golf course or in the lakes, in a clean and sanitary condition, perform minor swimming pool repairs.
- Pool Cleaning : All pools spas and fountains, with the exception of fountains on the golf course or in the lakes, must be checked daily and the following cleaning duties must be performed as necessary.
- Wire brush minor algae, rust and other spots in the plaster
- Performs cleaning duties as necessary to maintain clean and sanitary conditions in the absence of the Assistant Pool Technician
- Routine equipment maintenance: All swimming pool, spa and fountain equipment, with the exception of fountains on the golf course or in the lakes, must be checked daily and the following duties must be performed as necessary.
- Check and clean pump baskets
- Check chlorine systems to assure proper functioning and add chorine as needed
- Check heaters for proper performance and temperature
- Check overall system for proper performance, leaks, etc.
- Backwash filters as necessary
- Check time clocks to assure proper functioning and time set
- Keep equipment rooms in a clean and orderly manner
- Assure that proper permits are posted
- Perform other any other equipment checks or adjustments as necessary to assure proper functioning of the equipment system
- Chemicals and temperatures: All swimming pools, spas and fountains with the exception of fountains on the golf course or in the lakes, must be checked daily and chemicals added as necessary to assure sanitary conditions.
- Check chlorine, p h and other chemical levels daily and add necessary chemicals to assure sanitary and pleasant conditions
- When applicable, shock pools or spas as needed
- Maintain a daily chemical log for all pools and spas
- Check total alkalinity, calcium hardness, total dissolved solids and cyanuric acid levels, at least, monthly. Add chemicals, drain water or perform other tasks as necessary to assure proper balance of these readings. Provide a copy of these tests to the department manager and General Manager
- Check pool and spa temperatures frequently and adjust heaters as necessary to maintain the temperature levels as determined by the department director
- Perform other tests and chemical treatments as necessary to maintain sanitary and pleasant conditions in all pools, spas and fountains, with the exception of fountains on the golf course or in the lakes.
- Repairs, orders, training and miscellaneous
- Perform minor repairs of a nature that is agreed upon by the department manager
- Depending on the work required and the circumstances involved, advise the department manager when major repairs are necessary
- Assist the department manager in developing a long term plan for repairs, such as re-plastering of pools and re-surfacing of pool decks
- Advise the department manager of supplies that are needed as determined by the department manager
- Seek and attend training swimming pool maintenance classes to assure that more recent and efficient techniques are used to properly clean, sanitize and repair the pools, spas and fountains
- Completes/performs other tasks as requested by the department manager with the approval of the General Manager. The General Manager may also request employee to perform duties not specifically included in the employee’s job description.

- The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, color vision and ability to adjust focus.
- Must be able to swim
- Must have a valid driver’s license
